Pomona High School "Red Devil"

The RED DEVIL dates all the way back to the 1920's. Even our traditional colors, Red and White, changed back in the 1970's to Black, Red, and White because of gang activity. The current administration is dedicated to maintaining some of the old traditions including a return to the "Red and White."

(to the tune of "Hey, Look Me Over")

Hey, we're from Pomona - Give us a Cheer!

Tell all the Giants - The Devil's team is here.

We'll grab that football - Go down to score.

Watch the colors of Red and White -

We're going to win this game tonight!

So up to the top boys - Score after score.

We'll get that touchdown - Just hear that mighty roar!

So we'll all stand up in the stadium -

And cheer for the Red and White.

It's the Devil's team - FIGHT - FIGHT!

Hey, We're from Pomona
History of Pomona High

Pomona High was first established in 1889 in the Central School Building at the corner of Holt and Park Avenues. It was moved in 1904 to the site of the former Emerson Junior High at Pearl and Gibbs Streets and remained there until 1924 when the buildings on Holt Avenue were completed. Two years of junior college were added in 1916. Until 1937 the high school and junior college occupied the same building under different administrations. From 1937 until 1946 the two schools were known as Pomona Junior College. In 1946 Mount San Antonio College was established and Pomona High School came into existence once more. The main building on the Holt Avenue site was destroyed by fire (video) in the spring of 1956. School opened that Fall in portable classrooms erected on the athletic fields along San Antonio Avenue. The present PHS campus opened in the Fall of 1962. Our class of 1965 was the first to attend all three years on the new campus.
